Although there are plenty of things to do in The Valley it’s always nice to get out of dodge for a few days. This past weekend friends of mine Alex and Kevin owners of the fantastic resturant OurBar in Washougal, WA were tying the knot in The Gorge.
Prior to this year I hadn’t spent much time in the Gorge and now I can’t wait to go back. Earlier this year I went on a fishing trip with my dad in The Dalles and fell in love. We had a great guide, Walleye Willie, despite a drastic weather change Willie managed to get us into some fish.
Back to present day, I headed out with my best friend to Bonneville Hot Springs Resort and then on to the wedding venue a AniChe Cellars. The drive was peaceful and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
AniChe was a beautiful venue with incredible views of The Columbia River. I’m really looking forward to going back to AniChe and checking out their tasting room. The vineyard had the classic Pacific Northwest feel, small, inviting, and of course the owners Todd Mera and Racheal Horn were on site eager to entertain and answer any questions.
As you can see there is a lot of fun to be had in The Gorge. My favorite thus far was Bonneville Hot Spring Resort & Spa. Tucked away in North Bonneville staying at this resort is a treat. The resort has the feel of a laid back ski lodge and the staff were some of the nicest people I’ve encountered at a resort. The onsite restaurant was really tasty and reasonably priced. Every room has a large balcony to take in the fresh air, some even have a hot tub filled with their famous mineral water.
Next time you have an itch to head out of The Valley consider heading north to The Columbia River Gorge for ample activities, relaxation, and the beautiful scenery.
Until next time,
